BRAIN :
When you 'think' there is electrical activity in the brain. It can be taken out using electrodes, amplified and can be used to control a robotic arm. So doing things at the speed of thought is possible.
SPINAL CORD:
Even today, people are getting artificial replacements of spinal cord. It will be improved further. It may aid paralytic patients to walk again in future.
LUNGS:
"Extra corporal membrane oxygenation" ECMO, a artificial lung which can be carried in a backpack is already available. It functions like real lung and stays outside the body.
KIDNEYS:
We know, dialysis machines does the work of kidneys from outside the body. Also kidney transplant are taking place- but the wait is long. Research to make artificial kidney is in progress.
GENES:
Creating genetically modified human being is possible. But it has so many ethical issues. 'Cloning' is the starting points in this direction. We do not know what the future holds. Man may play God?
EYES:
We have spectacles, google glasses and reality devices. Smart contact lens is on the way. It can record images at the blink of the eye. It can produce smart overlays which can help in shopping and driving in low visibility.
EARS:
Modern hearing aid is very sleek and invisible. The cochlear implants bypass the damaged ear parts and electronically simulates the hearing nerve and make hearing possible.
HEART:
Researches to make artificial hearts are underway around the world. If one is produced successfully, it will be the monumental achievement in medical technology.
LIVER:
We now have artificial liver which can work from outside the body. It just only supports some functions of the liver. We have not yet fully understand the working of the liver. Hence we are not able to make a suitable substitute for it. But with progress of time, anything may be possible-like moon landing.
SKELETON:
Without replacing the bones within the body, one can use exo- skeleton which may help paralyzed persons and elderly people. One can enhance its functions using powered exo-skeleton.
Tomorrow, many of our body parts can be replaced by machines, enhancing our life and improving our longevity. But ethics, morality, humanitarian values should not be replaced.
