You can, if you own a new Tesla car. Bond lifts up the car side ways even up to 90 degrees and drives it on just tow wheels. He again brings the car back to normal position without toppling. It may be a screen gimmick. But today, It can be real.
First, we should understand stability. Consider 'Thanjavur doll'. It is heavy and hemispherical at the bottom. If you push the doll to one side, it will not fall down but will return and oscillate back into its original position. Why?
Center of gravity (CG) of a body is a point in the body at which all the weight of the body acts. Or, at CG, one can balance the body with a tip.
Draw a vertical line from the CG. If the line falls with in the base of the body, it will have good stability. That is, when a body is pushed to one side and the line from CG falls with in its base, the body will return to its original position. If the vertical line crosses the base, the body will topple.
To achieve this stability
1. The base of a body should be as wide as possible
2. The center of gravity must be as low as possible.
The Thanjavur toy meets both the criteria. 1. Its base is wide. 2. It carries more weight at the base. Hence CG is lowered. The line drawn from CG will never cross the base, even if you tilt the toy to 90 degrees towards floor.
In new Tesla car, heavy batteries are loaded at the bottom. Hence the CG is lowered and the stability conditions are met. You can do a 'Jame bond' with it.
When we carry heavy bucket of water in one hand, we naturally stretch the other hand. This happens to widen the base of our body and to achieve stability.
In the leaning tower of Paisa also, the line from CG falls with in its base. Hence the tower stands slantingly even today. But it should not lean further.
You can now understand why the pendulum also has the stability. But the inverted pendulum is not possible.
This principle is employed in the ships so that it can travel safely in the storm and waves.
Our buses have stability to certain extent. They can tilt up to 23 degrees. Hence over crowded buses and passengers hanging on the foot boards are not advisable.
