THE EARTH, A SUPER ORGANISM

A man called 'love lock' (what a name) proposed a theory called Gaia theory, named after Greek Goddess.
It says, "Earth is a self-regulating organism like a human being.  The organic life in it interacts with in-organic matter and maintains atmosphere, temperature and environment".  Hence the earth is still suitable for the life to thrive.
Imagine, in a particular place, there are lot of flowers.  Some flowers are white and some are darkly coloured.  We know, white reflects light and heat while dark absorbs the same.  White flowers can thrive in hot climate.  But dark flowers requires cold climate.  The absorption and reflection balances and the environment reaches average, warm temperature at which both the flowers can co-exist.  This is the essence of "Gaia" theory.
On our earth, the oxygen constitute 20% of the atmosphere.  The oxygen level is always maintained. More oxygen means everything will go into flames easily.  Bacteria gives out nitrogen and photosynthesis of plants generate carbon-di-oxide.   Hence the oxygen level is properly maintained.
In the oceans, salt content is maintained at 3 to 4 % .  So that aquatic life forms can thrive.
Food chain through animals, nitrogen cycle, Respiration-photosynthesis, Rain and shine, food -fertilizer (waste) all maintain an optimum by self-regulation and feed-back loop.
Our body keeps its temperature at about 37 degree c.  If it is cold, the body shivers.  If it is hot, the body sweats.  The body organs interact with each other, maintain and balances all the vital parameters.  The Gaia theory considers earth as a huge living body or organism.
Man who is technologically superior disturbs the nature.  We are eating into the lungs of planet (rain forests).  We are producing more CO2 emissions.  Consequently, the average temperature the globe is slowly rising.
The Gaia theory gives us yet another angle or way to look and protect the environment.
     The tag line is :
"Do not disturb the self-sustaining way of the earth"
Protect the only and the lonely living planet, earth

FOOT NOTE:  A bee-hive is a self-regulating community.  From queen-bee to servant-bee -all interact and co-operate and maintain the Eco-system of the hive.  They do it due to instinct which is engraved in their DNA.  That is they do it naturally not by learning.
Similarly earth components and parameters will sustain themselves,if left alone.
